There is nothing more frustrating than discovering a dent in your Starlet Toyota or Corona Premio, especially when you have no idea how it got there. If the dent is not too bad, there is a possibility that you can fix it yourself. Sometimes people leave dents in their vehicle because they do not have enough money to take their to the body shop. But a lot of dents can actually be fixed by you with some patience and attention to detail. All you need is the right tools to do the job or someone with the right tools who can help you take the dent out of your used Mitsubishi Canter.
To fix the dent in your car you will need the following items, all of which can be purchased at your local auto supply store: ball peen hammer; a claw hammer; block of wood; HSS drill bits; electric drill; wire brush; sanding disk; self-taping screws; self-locking grips; body filler kit; clean rags; sand paper; cellulose body stopper; and a hair-dryer.
The first thing you need to do with the dent is to try and push the dent out with your hands. If you cannot do it, take the wooden block and place it against the dent on the backside of the dent. Bang the ball peen hammer against the block to push the dent out of the car. If the dent still will not come out, you can drill a small hole into the metal. Mark the center of the dent and use the HSS bit to drill a hole and then screw in one of the long self-taping screws into the hole until only a half inch is sticking out. Use the self-locking grip or claw hammer to grab the end of the screw and pull. The dent will slowly pull out with a little bit of work.
Once the dent has been pulled out you will need to remove all of the paint from the area using the sanding disc or the wire brush. When the paint has been removed, apply filler to the dent and let it harden. When the filler has hardened, smooth the surface back down and check for bumps or imperfections. Sand them down until the area is smooth and then tape off the area with masking tape, newspaper, or brown paper bags. Use a primer to prime the area first and then apply your paint. Apply three thin coats of paint to the area, sand it down, and then apply two more coats of paint from top to bottom and sand them down. Once they have dried, apply two more coats, dry, sandpaper and then add the final coat. You have now fixed the dent in you car all by yourself for a fraction of the cost.
